Liverpool F.C.

When it comes to amazing supporters and great football performances, Liverpool is certainly the team you should follow closely in the Premier League. This team has a long history of victories and great achievements indeed, and is noted as one of the best football teams in the history of Premier League.

Liverpool was a founding member of Premier League. Together with other top teams, Liverpool founded the Premier League we all know and love today back in 1992. The same year, Liverpool won the FA Cup. Roy Evans took over the manager seat from Graeme Souness not too long after the FA Cup victory, which leads the team to a League Cup victory in 1995.

The team’s history keeps getting better from this point on. Liverpool won a treble – winning the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup all in one season – 1998. The 2001-02 season was also relatively good for Liverpool, and the team finished second only behind Arsenal in the season.

Rafael Benítez was appointed team manager in 2004, and brought Liverpool to winning the UEFA Champions League right away. The team’s performances in the Premier League may not be as spectacular, but winning the UEFA Champions League was certainly a historic achievement for the team. The final match was against Milan, ended with a 3–2 in a penalty shootout after the match ended with a draw. The 2007 UEFA Champions League Final was actually an interesting rematch, but Liverpool lost to Milan with a single goal difference.

Chelsea won their first First Division championship in 1955. They also won the 2004–05, 2005–06, and 2009–10 Premier League seasons; they are currently the defending champion so it will surely be interesting to see how well the team can maintain their championship title this year. Chelsea finished 2nd in the 2003–04, 2006–07, and 2007–08 Premier League seasons as well.

José Mourinho is noted as Chelsea’s most successful manager. Moruinho brought the team to winning 2 Premier Leagues, 2 League Cups, FA Cup, and a Community Shield. He started to manage Chelsea in 2004, and was replaced by Guus Hiddink in 2009.

Blackpool F.C.

Founded in 1887, Blackpool F.C. – or simply Blackpool – is one of the teams now competing in the Premier League. With Bloomfield Road as the team’s home base since 1901, Blackpool is determined to perform superbly in the Premier League this season.

Blackpool founded the Lancashire League back in 1887, and finished fifth out of the thirteen clubs competing in the league. The team then finished second in the 1888, 1889, and 1890 seasons before winning their first championship in 1891.

The club’s debut season in the Football League was the 1986-87 season, playing in the league’s Second Division with 16 other teams. The 1898–99 season was the team’s last season with Football League, because they were relegated back to the Lancashire League after finishing the season in the bottom three.

Blackpool’s performances were relatively consistent, although there are also times when they would show rather below-average performance against stronger teams. With Harry Evans as the team’s manager, Blackpool won the Division Two championship – which is also their only championship win to date – and finished three points ahead of Chelsea.

The team then joined the First Division for the 1929-30 season, but was relegated again after only three seasons. This season’s promotion to the Premier League is very similar to the First Division promotion in 1929. Blackpool will certainly try to do better and survive the competition this time, with several new players and interestingly new strategies already in place. It will be interesting to see how Blackpool F.C. performs in this year’s Premier League.
